Heroes of Olympus Party

In keeping with the “Every Hero Has a Story” Summer Reading theme for 2015, we celebrated some of our favorite Greek mythology heroes and villains made so popular by Rick Riordan’s series Heroes of Olympus in this themed party for kids in grades 2-5.

First we had a few challenges for the whole group:

  • The Cyclops Cookie Challenge (Minute-To-Win-It style)
  • Toilet Paper Toga Design Contest

For the rest of the hour, the kids rotated in groups to explore various activity stations (we divided the kids up into “cabins,” assigning Athena, Apollo, Hermes, or Prometheus):

Zeus’ Lightning Bolt Toss

Theseus and the Minotaur Marble Maze with Legos

Camp Half-Blood Bracelets (choose the right color beads for your “superpowers”)

In addition, we made a Heroes of Olympus Trivia Challenge that was playing as a Power Point slideshow while the kids were at the stations.
